Ultra-processed foods are pervasive in Western diets, and new research links these industrially produced meals, drinks, and snacks to poorer brain health. A study with over 2,000 dementia-free Australians aged 40–70 found that a 10 percent increase in ultra-processed foods in a person's diet led to a measurable drop in focus by 0.05 points and a higher dementia risk score of 0.24 points.
