This tiny mammal survived the dinosaur apocalypse and changed life on Earth
Mammals once shared the planet with dinosaurs until a catastrophic event 66 million years ago wiped out about 75% of all life on Earth. Among them were small, rodent-like mammals belonging to the genus Cimolodon, part of the multituberculates group that persisted for over 100 million years before extinction. Scientists study them to understand how early mammals endured the mass extinction and evolved into diverse forms.
